Community Games in Kamakura
Community Games in Kamakura is an activity both parents and children can enjoy to connect with each other, have fun and discover Japanese games loved by the locals.
Japan has a variety of seasonal events and activities, which we will try to incorporate into all our games.
Friday the 16th of January
For our first community games of the year in Kamakura, we are planning to do a variety of traditional games enjoyed by Japanese adults and children alike, these include Hane-Tsuki, Fuku-Warai, Kendama, Koma, Daruma-Otoshi and other games.
What to bring: Comfortable clothes, a towel (optional) and water.
Friday the 23rd of January
For our second community games, we will be doing Kite Flying, another traditional game Japanese play to celebrate the new years. Children will be making their own traditional Japanese Kites at a workshop within the Education Center in collaboration with a Japanese craftsman.
Kite Workshop Schedule
・・Drawing On the Kite - Tuesday, Jan 13th, 10:30-11:30
・・Building Structure of the Kite - Monday, Jan 19th, 9:30-11:30
・・Final Build and Kite Test Flying - Tuesday, Jan 20th, 9:30-11:30

In case of bad weather, we will play traditional board games such as the Japanese “Go”, also known as Japanese Chess, or other indoor games.

Depending on the season and the weather, we will choose the best game and location and let you know beforehand (every Monday of the week).
