Farm Family Fun at Quinta das Antas (Family Experience, June 20)

from €0.00

Some of the best days don't have a schedule. They have a tractor, a very tall swing, and a dog called Pinga.

Quinta das Antas is an 18th-century, family-run working farm tucked into the hills above Alenquer, steeped in history, tradition, and nature — olive groves, oak forest, sheep, chickens, and views that make you think twice about living in cities!

Join Lucas and his family as they open their gates for a day for us on a farm that feels like stepping back in time! It’s as simple as it sounds: come, slow down, let the kids run.

The Programme

  • Pancakes & Plums: a Farm Treasure Hunt!
Before you can eat them, you have to find them. Your mission: collect eggs from the chicken house, pick plums from the orchard, and bring home flour milled just down the road at one of Portugal's last working stone-ground mills. Back at the kitchen, make your batter, flip your pancakes, and eat them warm with your own plums. Kids who were suspicious of plums an hour ago will ask for seconds.

  • Tractor ride with Lucas
Their 1974 orange Fiat 480 has been working this land for fifty years. Lucas will take you for a spin. Kids lose their minds for it. Adults pretend they don't!

  • The Big Swing
Nine metres high, under the umbrella pines. We'll say no more.

  • The oak forest
Quiet, cool, and full of things to find. No agenda.

  • For the adults — Optional Wine Tasting (+15€)

Step into Quinta das Antas’ 18th-century winery and taste three wines from Quinta de Sant'Ana, their parent estate and one of Portugal's most celebrated rural wine producers. Guided by the family, informal, generous pours.

Meet the animals

  • Visit the sheep. Attempt to catch a chicken. Almost certainly fail.

  • Play with Pinga. Their English Setter is extremely charming and has absolutely no interest in behaving!

Lunch Included

  • A traditional Sopa da Pedra (stone soup) made from their own beans and vegetables, served with a Tiborna — thick-cut bread from their local bakery, drenched in their estate’s olive oil.

  • For vegetarians and vegans, a chickpea curry.

  • Elderflower cordial from their own production, pressed right there on the farm.

  • A complimentary glass of wine at lunch for parents

Transport: Not included in the price. We can organize transport from the EC to the location & back with our transfer partner, Avenidas, at 30-42€ per person (round trip), depending on how many people attend. Quinta das Antas is a 50-minute / 1-hour drive from Sintra.
