Secrets of the Shore: A Family Low-Tide Beach Exploration on Magoito Beach (Aug 29)
Discover the Portuguese coast through the eyes of someone who grew up immersed in it!
Join Zé, a Sintra local and chef (Ostra da Terra)— who spent his childhood learning the rhythms of the ocean and knows these shores like the back of his hand —for a relaxed morning of discovery at Praia do Magoito.
At low tide, Magoito gives up its secrets. Together, we’ll explore the tide pools and shallows, where we’ll learn to spot the ocean’s edible species, from edible seaweed and shellfish to bivalves. Kids and adults can get hands-on, trying different edible seaweeds straight from the rocks, learning about the rhythms of the coast and local traditions.
Zé will share the kind of knowledge you only get from growing up with the sea: what to look for, where to look, and how to explore the coast with care and respect. And because this is Zé, there may even be a few of his seaweed creations to taste along the way!
No long hike, no complicated techniques, and no need to be an expert! Just an easygoing morning by the ocean getting curious and discovering our Portuguese coast together!
