Sustainable Textiles and Art (Age 8-12)
Unlock your child’s creativity with START (Sustainable Textiles and Art): a hands-on, creativity-driven eco-design program that combines sustainability, upcycling, textile arts, and personal expression!
In this ECA, young designers learn how to transform everyday and discarded materials into purposeful, meaningful, and wearable art while developing artistic confidence, environmental awareness, and practical design skills.
Throughout the program, your children will experiment with various textile techniques, create accessories and artwork from reclaimed materials, and thoughtfully redesign or upcycle a clothing item of their choice. This ECA incorporates both hand stitching and guided introductory sewing machine use, presented in a safe, supportive, and exploration-based way.
The final week culminates in an Upcycled Fashion Showcase and Community Clothing Swap, celebrating creativity, confidence, and earth-friendly design values.
