Discover Sintra’s “Fairy Forest” From Capuchos to Penedo (19 Jan.)

€21.50

Following our morning yoga, get ready to start the week with a peaceful hike through one of Sintra’s enchanting and lesser-known areas, beginning at the historic Convento dos Capuchos and ending in the quiet mountain village of Penedo.

We’ll begin our journey at Capuchos Convent, a small 16th-century monastery built into its natural surroundings, offering a rare glimpse into a life lived in deep connection with nature. You’ll have time to explore this serene site and soak in its unique atmosphere before heading into the forest.

From there, we’ll follow forest trails that wind gently through Sintra’s characteristic greenery, with soft light filtering through the canopy, stretches of peaceful silence, and moments where the trees open up to reveal beautiful viewpoints.

As the trail descends, the forest gradually gives way to the stone houses and narrow lanes of Penedo, one of Sintra’s most charming small villages.

Finishing in time for a late lunch, our hike ends at Refúgio do Ciclista, a one-of-a-kind, rustic local spot loved by cyclists, hikers, and villagers alike. Inside, you’ll find stone walls, old cycling jerseys and framed race photos, long communal tables covered in paper, some additional quirky touches that we’ll leave to mystery, and a relaxed, rough-around-the-edges charm that makes it all the more local and memorable.

A gentle, nature-filled early afternoon offering an authentic lens of Sintra’s hills & culture.
