Discover one of Sintra’s best-kept secrets on a scenic hike along the Atlantic coastline from Cabo da Roca to Praia da Ursa!
We’ll start our journey at Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe, where rugged cliffs meet the vast Atlantic Ocean. From there, we’ll follow a coastal trail down to Praia da Ursa: a true hidden gem known for its wild beauty, towering rock formations, and untouched, off-the-beaten-path charm.
Praia da Ursa is considered one of Portugal’s most beautiful beaches, yet it remains a local secret, tucked away from the more touristy spots. The hike offers a bit of a challenge with uneven terrain and descents, but it’s absolutely worth it for the breathtaking views and the sense of adventure.
Once we reach the beach, we’ll take our time to relax and enjoy a picnic together surrounded by the raw natural beauty of this secluded cove, with the ocean stretching out before us.
This hike will take between 2.5 to 3 hours, including our picnic break. The pace will be relaxed, with plenty of time to soak in the views, take photos, and enjoy the outdoors.
Schedule: Friday, March 20th from 10 AM - approx. 1:00 / 1:30 PM
Meeting Point: Cabo da Roca
Difficulty Level: Moderate - Level 2-3 (Scale 1 to 5). Minimum level of fitness is required due to the hike having some elevation gain.
Distance: ~ 3 km
Transportation: Not Included
To go: We will meet directly there. Cabo da Roca is a 30-minute drive from Sintra. Feel free to organize transport with our partner Avenidas.
To return: You might face long wait times. A safer plan would be to arrange a pickup ahead of time :-)
What to bring: closed shoes suitable for hiking, water, a picnic/snacks, sunglasses, and comfortable, weather-appropriate clothes (layers are your friends! 😉)
