Farm Family Fun in Sintra: Bread, Animals & Backyard Games!
Get ready for a hands-on morning stepping back into the past at Quintinha de Monserrate, where the magic of the countryside comes to life through laughter, storytelling, and traditional farm fun!
You’ll be welcomed by two delightful characters straight out of Sintra’s rural past: Joaquim Farinhas and Teresa Framboesa, classic saloios (Sintra hillbillies) who are full of charm, mischief, and stories to share. As they guide you through a day on the farm, you’ll become part of their world, from kneading bread dough by hand to helping out with their daily animal care.
While the country bread bakes, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and join in feeding the animals!
Once the chores are done, we’ll all gather in the shade of the trees for a cozy countryside snack of warm, freshly baked bread & homemade lemonade.
And the fun’s not over yet! Expect giggles and friendly competition during traditional outdoor games that everyone can join, kids and adults alike!
A little more About Quintinha:
Quintinha is an old agricultural property that supplied the kitchen of Monserrate palace with the most fresh vegetables and fruits, eggs, and aromatic herbs. The green garden is still maintained, with the ecological production of local varieties and traditional irrigation with small “levadas” that carry the water from an elevated tank. And of course, the farm animals are present as well, the donkey and the horse, the chickens and the rabbits. Today they welcome everyone who wants to learn about the ancient customs of this region.
All ages are welcome. Kids under 3 can join for free!
