Family Give Back Initative: Invasive Species Management (Oct. 26)
Get ready to roll up your sleeves and make a real difference in one of Sintra’s most beautiful natural spaces!
The Invasive Species Management Volunteer Day is more than just removing plants, it’s a chance to connect with nature, learn about the local ecosystem, and spend meaningful time outdoors with your family.
Participants will work in the forested areas of the Serra de Sintra, learning about native and invasive species, and helping protect biodiversity by removing small acacia plants.
Date: Sunday, 26th of October
Time: 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Location: Tapada do Saldanha or Tapada de D. Fernando II (depending on final group size)
What to Expect:
Short introduction about invasive and native species in the Serra de Sintra
Hands-on activity: removing small acacia plants and organizing them into piles for later removal
Learn about local flora and the importance of biodiversity conservation
Fun, educational, and rewarding activity for all ages
Please bare in mind there are no bathrooms on-site
Gloves will be provided
What to Bring: Closed shoes and a hat if sunny; a water bottle; snacks; and a positive spirit!
Ages: All ages welcome (children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian)
Minimum participants: 10
Maximum participants: 40
Transport: Not included in the price. Feel free to reach out to Avenidas to coordinate transport.
