Cheleiros Like a Local: Between Trails, Ancient Villages, and Wine (Oct. 22)

from €54.00

Join us for a Saloia countryside experience just beyond Sintra, where some of our favourite combinations come together: hidden corners, local culture… and fine wine!

We’ll meet in the historic village of Cheleiros and set off on a guided 7 km trail with Ricardo, a Cheleiros native, who will introduce us to his neck of the woods, leading us through idyllic landscapes, across medieval bridges, past an ancient volcanic chimney, and into a charming, lost-in-time Saloia village (Mata Pequena) with the smallest homes you’ve ever seen. Along the way, we’ll hear stories that bring the landscape to life, offering a chance to slow down and discover a quieter side of Portugal, one shaped by tradition, culture, and a deep connection to the land.

Finishing our walk at Manzwine —a winery that captures the spirit of today while keeping the history and traditions of a region and its people alive —we’ll round off the experience by settling in for a tasting of six wines paired with regional products, toasting to life, health, and the beauty of simplicity!

The perfect balance of hiking, human-nature synergy, cultural discovery, and a well-earned glass (…or six) of wine.

** The trail is rated 2/6 (easy), with a few elevation changes and uneven terrain sections, and a watercourse crossing. A moderate level of fitness is recommended.
