This ride ascends from the quiet, rustic streets of Colares village past Sintra’s least-visited monuments into a landscape of incredible biodiversity.
The electric mountain bikes make the climbs more accessible, leaving us free to enjoy the trails, the landscape and the ride itself. You’ll pedal through shifting microclimates where the Atlantic Ocean meets the mountain range, navigating single-tracks that weave through dense pine forests, invasive acacia groves, ancient cork oaks, rugged coastal shrubs, and open south slopes where wild horses and donkeys roam to protect the mountain from wildfires.
And then there’s the other side of cycling: the people and places that grow around it…
Our journey wraps up in time for lunch, where you’ll be introduced to Refúgio do Ciclista, a one-of-a-kind, frozen-in-time, rustic local spot where cyclists, hikers and villagers have been crossing paths for years. Inside, you’ll find stone walls, old cycling jerseys, race photographs, long communal tables, and a few additional quirky touches that we’ll leave to mystery for now ;-)

** A moderate level of fitness + ability to ride a bike on varying terrain is required for this experience.
No major prior mountain bike experience needed — just the ability to ride & feel comfortable on a bike!
Schedule: Thursday, October 8th, from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
