A Morning in a Local’s Yard: Herbs, Wine & Living Traditions
Spend a relaxed morning in the yard of a local expert, whose home is nestled in the northern part of Syros, surrounded by herbs, seasonal produce, and the rhythms of everyday island life. Guided by your host, you’ll explore his cultivated garden and learn about the properties and traditional uses of herbs found across Syros, along with stories that connect food, nature, and culture on the island. Light hands-on activities may be included, depending on the day.
During the experience, a local winery owner joins to lead a tasting of two wines made from indigenous Cycladic varieties, sharing insights into the region’s wine culture and production. Alongside this, you’ll sample traditional products from Syros and gain a deeper understanding of the island’s history and identity in a calm and authentic setting.
What to Expect:
Herb & Garden Exploration – Walk through a private garden and learn about local herbs, their properties, and traditional uses.
Hands-on Garden Activities – Engage in light, seasonal tasks alongside your host (optional and dependent on the day).
Wine Tasting Experience – Taste two local wines presented by a winery owner, featuring indigenous Cycladic varieties.
Local Product Sampling – Enjoy a selection of traditional flavors from Syros.
Cultural & Historical Insights – Discover stories and context about life in northern Syros, past and present.
