Parents Fado Dinner & Movie Night at the EC (May. 23)
Join an authentic Portuguese experience at the restaurant Taverna dos Trovadores. This experience combines a dinner of traditional Portuguese food with one of Portugal's most iconic and traditional music genres and offers a unique window into the soul of Portugal.
Fado is one of the most iconic expressions of Portuguese music. Emotional, poetic, and profoundly moving. Born in the old neighbourhoods of Lisbon in the 19th century. It tells stories of love, loss, and longing through haunting melodies and heartfelt lyrics. Sung by a solo performer and accompanied by classical and Portuguese guitars.
The dinner will take place in an intimate setting in a historic room reserved for the group in which the musicians and the singer will perform throughout the dinner, with moments of music interspersed with the service of the food, normally there will be around three musical moments during the dinner.
What to Expect:
Full dinner with Portuguese food - Includes starters, main course, dessert, drinks, and coffee. This is a great opportunity to try typical Portuguese food, as we eat at home.
Intimate Atmosphere - The concert is performed by a solo singer (the fadista), accompanied by two guitars: the classical guitar and the Portuguese guitar, a 12-string instrument with a unique sound. The attendees need to be silent to respect the musicians!
Cultural Storytelling - Fado expresses themes of longing, love, loss, and the feeling of saudade, a uniquely Portuguese word that describes a deep emotional state of nostalgic longing for someone or something. Even if you don’t speak the language, the tone of the music brings strong emotions to the listener.

Sabores de Sintra has been in existence since 1990.
We kicked off as a bar, a night space with live music, but soon we became a restaurant, since our most appreciated snacks were no longer enough to our growing clientele.
Over the years, new rooms were opened, each one a privileged place to enjoy our gastronomic specialties and listen to good Portuguese music.

Musician, composer, singer, producer and passionate promoter of Portuguese culture and music, Fernando Pereira is our host, entertaining you with as much care as he does with his friends in his own house.
In 1990 he founded Taverna dos Trovadores and Sabores de Sintra and since then you can meet him here, anytime, day or night, making this an iconic space for Portuguese music and culture and a true haven for those who visit us.
The Music

Taverna dos Trovadores and Sabores de Sintra delivers live Portuguese music every Friday and Saturday, during dinner, closing at 11pm.
Among the resident musicians are Ana Lains, Rogério Charraz, Joana Amendoeira, Sebastião Antunes, Silvana Peres, Ricardo Oliveira, Paulo Loureiro, Carlos Lopes, Edu Miranda and the host, Fernando Pereira.
Kids Movie Night
And for those wondering about the kids, we’ve got it covered! While you indulge in fine wines, your little ones can enjoy a Movie Night at the EC—a fun-filled evening with pizza, popcorn, and a great movie. Simply drop them off before heading to the event and pick them up after.
Clarification: Each event is individual, and families can choose to join one without participating in the other. For example, kids can attend the Movie Night without parents joining the Asado Workshop, and vice versa.
